Manchester United manager David Moyes today reiterated that Wayne Rooney was not for sale.

Rooney is thought to want to leave Old Trafford and Chelsea have already had two offers rejected for the striker.

It is rumoured that a another offer is imminent but when asked today if there had been further interest from Chelsea, United boss Moyes told Sky Sports News: “No and no more developments. We don’t want any more developments. We’ve told everybody, as I’ve said before, he is not for sale.”

United are yet to make a high-profile signing this summer, amid reports they are about to revive their interest in Cesc Fabregas with a fresh £40m bid, and Moyes said: “I am confident we will have players in before the start of the season.

“We are involved in several players we are looking at and that will continue.

“Will we get them before the deadline? I hope so and we are working very hard to do so.

“This was always going to be a difficult window for me personally because I joined Manchester United on July 1, which has given me only a short period to get to know the players and to get to know the market.”
