Troy Deeney still sidelined for Watford but Nathaniel Chalobah fit to face Newcastle

Watford were on Friday assessing Troy Deeney’s hamstring injury but Javi Gracia has said the forward is unlikely to return against Newcastle.

Deeney has missed the last two matches with the problem and Isaac Success is set to continue to lead the line at St James’ Park

Gracia said: “Troy is training out of the team at the moment it will be difficult for him to be available.”

Watford, though, will have Nathaniel Chalobah back from a minor muscle problem.

“This season we have a good squad. A lot of players were here last season as well,” said Gracia.

“It was important in the beginning when we started in the first games that we started well this season where other teams needed time to adapt with new clubs, new systems and new players.

“For us, maybe it was better that we knew each other and it has worked for us.

“I am sure Newcastle are working very hard for that and we need to be ready for a difficult game, a tough game. I am sure in all the games they are playing they are trying their best. They are a good squad and a good team.”
