Pedro Rodriguez's first-half performance for Chelsea on his debut against West Brom was so superb it left Manchester United fans bewildered by Louis van Gaal's decision to opt against a move for the Spaniard.
Pedro scored a goal and set up Diego Costa for another after starting Chelsea's clash with the Baggies at the Hawthorns on Sunday, just three days after he had completed a £21million move to Stamford Bridge from Barcelona.
The Spanish World Cup winner had reportedly been close to joining United but, after Jose Mourinho had personally contacted the 28-year-old to convince him to sign for the Blues, Pedro plumped for a move to Stamford Bridge.
Van Gaal said on Friday: "If we wanted Pedro, there would not have been any problem. There was a release clause [of £22m] in his contract, so it would have been the most easy transfer. You can write what you want about this but we cannot say what we want – that is the difference."
And, unsuprisingly, Pedro's superb start to life in the English top-flight on Sunday resulted in some brilliant reactions on social media.
