Valencia fans toast Gary Neville's Europa League success with classic chant

James Benge19 February 2016

The fickle nature of fandom. One day you’re public enemy no.1, the next you’re the subject of a chant that doesn’t reference how awful you are at your job.

Such is the way of Gary Neville at Valencia. Just a fortnight ago he was fighting for his job after a 7-0 hammering at the hands of Barcelona.

Last night his side helped him toast his 41st birthday in style, hammering five past Rapid Vienna in the first half on their way to a 6-0 victory in the Europa League.

That result, coupled with a first league win in nine games over Espanyol on Sunday, has seemingly brought at least some Valencia fans back around to Neville’s way of thinking.

Adapting the classic Kolo/Yaya Toure chant, itself a cover version of Amsterdam dance project 2 Unlimited’s ‘No Limits, they toasted the success of Gary and his brother Phil Neville in a video you can watch above.
