Man United’s Raphael Varane issues injury update with France set to announce World Cup squad

Manchester United and France defender Raphael Varane has posted an update on his injury.

The centre-back is in a race to be fit for the World Cup, as Les Blues look to defend the trophy won in Russia four years ago, after suffering a hamstring injury against Chelsea last week.

United manager Erik ten Hag subsequently ruled Varane out of action for his club side until after the Qatar tournament, but featuring for his country remains a possibility.

Varane has since spent time at France’s famous Clairefontaine training base. Posting on Instagram with images of him going through a rehabilitation programme, Varane wrote: "Thank you everyone for the kind messages this week. I have been working! Feeling good. Good luck today boys @manchesterunited!”

France head coach Didier Deschamps must confirm his squad for the World Cup by November 13, with the nation's first group game coming on November 22 against Australia.
