Victor Moses hopes his move from Chelsea to Liverpool can resurrect his career — just as it has done for Daniel Sturridge.
Liverpool have paid Chelsea £1.5million to take the 22-year-old on loan for the season although the deal does not include an option to make the switch permanent.
Moses has only been at Chelsea for a year, having joined for £9m from Wigan last summer. But he has fallen out of favour since Jose Mourinho took charge in June and has not been in the match-day squad this term.
Sturridge was in a similar situation at Chelsea before completing a transfer worth in excess of £15m to Liverpool in January and has thrived since, scoring 16 goals in 20 games.
Moses admits it played a major part in his decision and said: “I spoke to Sturridge and he wanted me to come here. He said I’d love it here but he didn’t need to say much. The next morning, I had a word with my agent and told him it could be the right move for me. It’s a massive club with great history. The club are doing well, so I wanted to come here and enjoy my football.
“Daniel is a great player and at the moment is probably the best striker in the Premier League. The most important thing as a player; to enjoy yourself. Daniel’s certainly doing that at the moment. Not playing games can really damage your career.”
Another Chelsea youngster hoping a loan move can convince Mourinho of his talents is Romelu Lukaku, who will spend the season at Everton.
Mourinho had insisted the Belgium striker was part of his plans but it was decided he would be better off moving after the club failed to agree a loan move for Demba Ba. Mourinho prefers to plays with a lone striker and Samuel Eto’o’s arrival left him with four in the squad.
