England may have lost their opening World Cup match to Italy on Saturday night, but Roy Hodgson was quick to get his players back in the gym ahead of Thursday’s clash with Uruguay.

The 2-1 defeat to Italy on Saturday night transformed Thursday’s already crucial encounter with Uruguay into a must-win contest.

Uruguay, who rested Luis Suarez for their Group D opener, also succumbed to defeat – in a shock 3-1 loss to Costa Rica.

With the Liverpool striker expected to return to action against the Three Lions, Hodgson can afford no chances, so had his players back in the gym as quickly as possible.
