Video: Manchester United star Wayne Rooney takes on Rory McIlroy in round of golf with a twist

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has taken to the fairways to film a humorous advert for Nike in which his pin-seeking ability with his right boot sets about frustrating US Open winning opponent Rory McIlroy.

The pair take part in a qwerky game of golf where the England international is shown firing Nike’s Ordem football - which is inspired by the flight and aerodynamics of a golf ball - towards the pin while McIlroy sticks to the tools with which he is most comfortable.

In the light-hearted clip, Rooney exceeds the Northern Irish golfer’s drives before his kick-ups later distract the PGA Championship winner as he lines up a drive.

But McIlroy gets his revenge when he repeats the antics with a driver and golf ball as the United man is poised to strike the ball, before Brazilian World Cup-winner Ronaldo makes a cameo appearance.

The 37-year-old diverts a wayward strike from Wayne Rooney towards the pin to compound McIlroy’s misery and as it all draws to a close the golfer is shown smuggling the Nike Ordem into his golf club bag.
