Cesc Fabregas scored his first Chelsea goal as the Blues cruised to victory over Vitesse Arnhem on Wednesday.

The former Arsenal captain picked out the top corner with a superb free-kick from the edge of the box to double Chelsea's lead after Mohamed Salah's opener.

The Egyptian had earlier raced onto Diego Costa's through ball to slide into an empty net, before Fabregas made his mark.

Vitesse played their part in an end-to-end encounter and forced Petr Cech into a number of good saves, but the Dutch club never seemed to unsettle Jose Mourinho's men.

And Costa was at the heart of the attacking play again when he unselfishly set up Nemanja Matic who rounded off the friendly win, making it 3-0 with an emphatic finish in the 76th minute.

The hosts grabbed a consolation with moments to go when Uros Durdovic stole in at the back post to reduce the deficit, but Chelsea - who confirmed the departure of Romelu Lukaku to Everton on Wednesday - left in buoyant mood after an impressive display.
