Watch Storm Barney assist bizarre own goal in Romford vs Thurrock match

James Benge19 November 2015

Storm Barney played the remarkable role of assist king in an Isthmian League match between Thurrock and Romford on Tuesday night.

In a scarcely credible own goal you can watch above Thurrock defender Kamarl Duncan’s clearance was caught by the wind and went flying back towards his own goal.

Under ordinary circumstances Rhys Madden might have expected to keep the ball out, but it seems harsh to blame him for one of the most bizarre own goals ever seen. If anything football fans should be thanking him for this remarkable sight.

The match would go on to finish 1-1, a result that saw Thurrock lose ground on promotion rivals AFC Sudbury, AFC Hornchurch and Cray Wanderers.

Their manager Mark Stimson said of the bizarre own-goal: “Romford's goal was something you can only describe after seeing.”
