Watford have announced the appointment of Walter Mazzarri as their new head coach following the departure of Quique Sanchez Flores.
Italian Mazzarri, who has previously managed Napoli and Inter Milan, will join the club on July 1, signing a three year contract.
On Friday Mazzarri's agent, Andrea D'Amico, claimed his client had signed a three year deal after spending several months in Manchester where he looked to improve his language skills.
"He chose the quality of the project and his faith in the Pozzo family ahead of other offers," D'Amico said.
"He will certainly do very well."
Club CEO Scott Duxbury said: "Walter has been the target of a number of approaches for his services, so we're delighted to secure him as head coach here at Watford.
"We're thoroughly looking forward to working with such a highly-regarded coach, with the progress and development of the club always remaining the highest priority."
Watford announced that Flores would depart ahead of the final game of the season, a 2-2 draw at home to Sunderland saw the Hornets end the season in 13th position, eight points clear of the relegation zone.
Flores has been linked with a return to Spanish football at his former side Valencia, with Watford having agreed a break clause halfway through the two-year contract he signed at the start of last season.
Mazzarri's last job was at Inter, where he replaced Andrea Stramaccioni in May 2013. He served just half of his three year contract before his dismissal in favour of Roberto Mancini, departing the San Siro with his side trapped in mid-table.
