QPR will be looking to get their summer transfer business done early, according to assistant manager Marc Bircham.

Manager Ian Holloway looks keen to bolster his squad significantly this summer, after the Loftus Road team lost seven of their last eight Championship games.

The west London club are yet to confirm any new signings, but fans may not have long to wait judging by Bircham’s comments today on their recruitment plans.

"We know where we need to strengthen and hopefully we can target those areas and get them done early in the transfer window," he told the club's official website.

“That gives us a good stepping stone into next season and gives us an advantage over other teams who are changing half their squad and looking for other players.

There may not be wholesale changes though, with Bircham hinting that QPR will keep the core of the squad intact.

He added: "If we do our business early and work with the bulk of the squad that we've got, we'll be really looking forward to the start of the new season with the pre-season that we'll get under our belt."
