West Brom won’t give up on Saloman Kalou chase

West Brom are still hopeful of signing former Chelsea forward Salomon Kalou.

The Ivory Coast international, who joined Lille last summer, has been linked with Albion and West Ham, with both clubs triggering a £2.6million release clause.

Kalou has made it clear he would prefer to remain at Lille but Albion manager Steve Clarke, who worked with Kalou when he was Jose Mourinho’s assistant at Stamford Bridge, has not given up on signing the player.

“We’ve stated an interest, we’ve had some negotiations and we’re hopeful he’ll come to West Brom,” said joint assistant manager Keith Downing.
