Harried: Sterling was the biggest threat to West Ham's back four

Standard Sport assesses the individual performances from West Ham's 3-1 win against Liverpool at Upton Park.

The hosts began with real intensity and took the lead after just two minutes when centre back Winston Reid nodded home from a few yards out.

New signing Diafra Sakho doubled the advantage five minutes later when his cross-shot looped in over the stranded Liverpool keeper Simon Mignolet.

West Ham were in charge but conceded a goal out of nothing when Raheem Sterling lashed a loose ball home from the edge of the box midway through the first half.

Brendan Rodgers brought on Adam Lallana at half-time, but the former Southampton man couldn’t inspire his new club to an equaliser, and with two minutes remaining they conceded again as Hammers substitute Morgan Amalifitano finished coolly into the corner.
