West Ham look to be out of the race to sign striker Alvaro Negredo after his club Sevilla confirmed the player wants to leave for a Champions League club.

Reports from Spain last month suggested the Hammers had made an unsuccessful £14.5million bid for Negredo but the Upton Park club refused to confirm their interest.

Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido said he had received two offers for the Spain international.

"The player hasn't put his foot down and told me 'I want to go', but he has said that he wants to develop and wants to play in the Champions League," Del Nido said.

"We won't forget that the will of the player is very important for making a decision.

"Currently there are two offers, one from Atletico [Madrid] and another from a foreign team which we are not going to say who."
