A stunning goal from Neal Maupay denied West Ham what had previously looked like a hard-earned win.

After Tomas Soucek ended his goalscoring drought by heading in an early corner, David Moyes’ side largely appeared comfortable despite Brighton’s domination in terms of possession.

While the home side were somewhat unfortunate to see Michail Antonio’s tap-in from another corner early in the second-half ruled out after a lengthy VAR check, West Ham rode their own luck too many times.

Lukasz Fabianksi saved well from Jakub Moder in the first-half before watching Adam Lallana put what looked like a relatively straightforward shot wide.

Given Brighton’s inability to finish chances, it did look as if West Ham were starting to see the game out. Still, although you could forgive them for dropping deep, Neal Maupay had other ideas.

A forward who isn’t exactly renowned for finishing chances, the Frenchman improvised a stunning overhead kick to earn Brighton a point.

Three games without a win for West Ham now and, with Chelsea up next, things don’t get any easier.
