Sam Byram is set to miss West Ham's next three games due to a combination of suspension and his appearance in the third round of the FA Cup for Leeds United.

The 22-year-old has made an impressive start to his Premier League career after swapping Elland Road for Upton Park in January and has established himself in Slaven Bilic's defence.

But the full-back picked up his third booking in a West Ham shirt during Saturday's 1-0 victory over strugglers Sunderland, which takes his tally for the season to 10, and he will miss the Hammers' next two top-flight fixtures as a result.

Byram will therefore be unavailable for Wednesday's London derby against Spurs, plus this weekend's trip to face Everton at Goodison Park.

The defender will also not be allowed to appear in the upcoming FA Cup clash with Manchester United as he featured for former club Leeds earlier in the tournament and is cup tied for the encounter at Old Trafford.

Byram will not be available for selection until West Ham's game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on March 19, but the defender is still delighted with how his career at the highest level has begun.

"I am really enjoying it. I am adapting well and learning every day," he told the Sun.

"It's what you dream of as a young boy - to play against the best and see how you cope."

Byram's absence will also bring a temporary end to his partnership with Michail Antonio, who scored the winner against the Black Cats two days ago.

The midfielder struggled for game time during the early stages of the season but has now scored five goals in 15 starts for the east Londoners and Byram is delighted to see his colleague proving he can cut it in the Premier League.

"I played against him a number of times at Championship level and he is a real handful.

"He is a strong, powerful boy and is getting better and better every time I see him play.

"I am really happy to see him doing it at the top level. He is adding goals to his game and is a crucial part of the team," Byram insisted.
