Diafra Sakho will have a scan today to determine the extent of his thigh injury amid fears the West Ham striker could be sidelined for at least three months.

The 25-year-old was forced off after 74 minutes of Sunday’s 1-1 draw against West Brom as he over-stretched to shoot at goal.

Initial tests suggest Sakho is facing a lengthy lay-off but the precise timescale should become clear later today.

Sakho had only just returned to full fitness after spending a month on the sidelines with a similar problem and another significant spell out would be a significant blow to Hammers boss Slaven Bilic.

West Ham are already without Dimitri Payet until February after the club’s most influential player suffered an ankle injury, although there was a sense of relief that the Frenchman did not require surgery to fix the problem.

Bilic has had his attacking options limited further this season with Enner Valencia out on two separate occasions while Andy Carroll missed the first month of the season.
