West Ham’s problems continued after they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Championship side Blackburn Rovers on penalties.

Here’s how David Moyes’ side rated at the London Stadium...

Alphonse Areola 6

Had already made a smart one-on-one save by the time he picked the ball out of his net on six minutes.

Vladimir Coufal 5

Engaged in a real tussle down the right but barely threatened.

Ben Johnson 6

Some terrific long-range passing, not overly worked defensively. Scored his penalty.

Nayef Aguerd 6

Got away with a clanger of a backpass in the opening minutes but crucial block on line denied Markanday just before the break. Big switch started move for Antonio winner.

Angelo Ogbonna 5

Went for a bizarre wander for second Markanday chance, then missed crucial penalty.

Emerson 6

Got forward well, creating space for others inside, even if delivery was not always the best.

Conor Coventry 5

Horrendous backpass put Markanday through on goal before being sacrificed for more attacking Benrahma.

Flynn Downes 6

Lovely touch made Antonio chance. Busy as ever.

Manuel Lanzini 6

Couple of cracking long range strikes that took deflections over, but otherwise peripheral. Scored pressure fifth penalty.

Pablo Fornals 7

Equaliser made it three goals in three games and should have had an assist with corner Antonio put against woodwork.

Michail Antonio 7

A busy night. Poor cross made Fornals goal, then missed two superb chances before taking a much tougher one brilliantly to put West Ham ahead. Stuck his penalty away.

Substitutes

Said Benrahma (Coventry 65’) 6

Introduction got the biggest cheer of the night, with said plenty about his growing standing. Blazed high and wide on rebound after Antonio chance. On target in the shootout.

Gianluca Scamacca (Fornals 77’) 6

Confident penalty in the shootout.

Jarrod Bowen (Coufal 77’) 6

Came on and immediately played part in Antonio goal. Scored fine penalty.
