Slaven Bilic has admitted there is a 'possibility' Nikica Jelavic could leave West Ham on transfer deadline day.

The 30-year-old joined the Hammers from Hull City as recently as last summer but has struggled for regular football in recent months.

The striker has started just one Premier League game this season and is set to slip even further down the east Londoners' pecking order after Emmanuel Emenike's arrival on loan.

Bilic has confirmed he completed a deal for the Nigerian not only to provide cover for the injured members of his front line but also in preparation for Jelavic's potential departure.

"We got the deal done and we are happy - of course," he told Sky Sports News.

"We wanted him because [Mauro] Zarate left to Fiorentina and there is a possibility [Nikica] Jelavic will go.

"With a couple of strikers injured still - hopefully they will be back very soon - we just needed a player who can play in three positions up front and Emenike has been on our radar.

"I have known him for a long time. He's a great player and I hope he can do a good job for us."

Emenike, who has won 37 caps for the Super Eagles, arrives from Turkish club Fenerbahce and West Ham have an option to make the deal permanent in the summer.

Bilic, meanwhile, expects the forward to be the last player to arrive at Upton Park during the current transfer window.

When asked whether he expected to be busy for the remainder of the day the Croatian manager replied: "No. That's it. It's finished."
