Yoane Wissa’s last minute winner delivered a deserved three points for Brentford at West Ham.

The Bees, arriving here undefeated on their travels in the Premier League, made a flying start. Bryan Mbuemo could have had two before the fifth minute, clipping the bar from the edge of the box before heading wide from Rico Henry’s cross. The winger didn’t have to wait much longer to his second goal of the season.

West Ham had regained a touch of composure but were slow to snap onto the second ball in midfield and Ivan Toney sent a fine first-time ball through to Sergi Canos. Lukas Fabianski was equal to his effort but parried to Mbuemo who managed to sneak his effort just over the line before the West Ham goalkeeper palmed it away.

The Hammers made a brighter start to the second half but still never proved a real threat. Jarrod Bowen headed wide from Vladimir Coufal’s cross before Henry blocked spectacularly from Pablo Fornals. Poor decision making and a lack of creativity hindered the Hammers going forward as the Bees ran down the clock.

It looked as if West Ham had run out of steam going into the final ten minutes, until finally they struck.

Set pieces looked their only way making an impact and it proved so. Ethan Pinnock got his head to Declan Rice’s flick on but sent it straight to the feet of Bowen, who fired in a the near post to level.

West Ham were looking likely to escape with a fortunate point before substitute Wissa struck late on. Coufal was beaten in the air by Pontus Jansson who saw his header palmed away by Fabianski. Wissa ran onto the loose balle and hammered a fine finish home.
