West Ham vs Chelsea violence: FA launch investigation after first London Stadium derby is marred by crowd trouble

Standard Sport27 October 2016

The Football Association have today launched an investigation into crowd trouble during Wednesday night’s EFL Cup match between West Ham at Chelsea.

Seven people have been arrested so far after violent clashes broke out between rival supporters, while further reports claimed riot police were deployed inside the stadium.

There was an increased police presence at the London Stadium for its first derby clash - and it’s first category A fixture - after matches against Watford and Middlesbrough were marred by violent altercations between supporters inside the ground.

One Chelsea fan called it a ‘nightmare’, before admitting that he feared ‘someone could get killed’ if security improvements were not made.
