David Moyes says victory over Chelsea can set West Ham on course for "the big one" in their pursuit of Champions League football.

The Hammers can move above London rivals Chelsea into fourth with victory over Thomas Tuchel's side on Saturday.

A 3-2 victory at this stage of last season set the tone for their run-in and successful fight against relegation.

And now, while European football of any level would mark a successful season for West Ham, Moyes wants to grasp the opportunity of a first ever Champions League place for the east Londoners - starting with a win over Chelsea.

"I think it will set the tone but no matter what the result we’re in the mix," said Moyes.

"With six games to go, whether we win or lose, I don’t think that it will me either us or Chelsea are out of it.

“But getting a bit of an advantage would be helpful if we want to be in the big one. European football would be a great stage for us whatever level that would be.

"We’re enjoying because it wasn’t expected, but now we’re here it is a bit like when you get a chance in life you want to take it the best you can and not miss out on it.

“We’ll try to do everything we can not to miss out on it."
