It was in the balance for some time, but now we know that Sam Allardyce will lead West Ham into the new season.
Allardyce and his side were booed from the field despite home victory against Hull City in March, amid growing criticism of the club's playing style towards the back-end of last season.
Ahead of the new campaign, the club have recruited attacking coach Terry Sheringham to bolster Allardyce's staff.
But co-owner David Sullivan will not accept a repeat of last season from his 59-year-old manager. He said: “It is not acceptable to our supporters to say, ‘We’ve survived. We’ve had a very good campaign.’"
