West Ham's London Stadium empties ahead of players' end of season lap of honour

West Ham's London Stadium quickly emptied following the club's disappointing 4-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.

Fans were told to remain in their seats with the players scheduled to do a lap of honour at full-time, but another thumping defeat capped a miserable first season for West Ham in their new home.

Goals from Daniel Sturridge, a brace from Philippe Coutinho and Divock Origi completed the comprehensive victory and most fans were in no mood to stick around.

The team eventually emerged as club anthem "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles" boomed out of the sound system.

The result was also bad news for West Ham's London rivals Arsenal, who are now relying on other results to clinch a top-four spot.

Anything other than a victory at West Ham's London Stadium would have left Liverpool hoping top-four rivals slip up but once Daniel Sturridge put them ahead in the 35th minute they were relatively comfortable.

Coutinho struck twice in the space of four minutes midway through the second half and Divock Origi rubbed salt into West Ham's wounds as the visitors ran riot.

Liverpool have 73 points with one match remaining, one ahead of Man City and four more than Arsenal who both have two games left to play.
