West Ham are unlikely to sell both Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez this month.

Hernandez is wanted by Valencia, but the Hammers already face the possibility of losing Arnautovic to China and are reluctant to let the Mexican leave.

Valencia want Hernandez on loan, but West Ham would only consider a permanent deal if they were to do business at all.

Manuel Pellegrini is keen to keep the 30-year-old, but a sale would help cut the wage bill, given Hernandez’s salary is around £140,000 per week and he is not a regular in the team.

Arnautovic is the subject of interest from Shanghai SIPG. The Chinese champions are yet to increase their initial £35million offer, but are said to be ready to make a new bid of around £45m, which will test West Ham’s resolve.

The Hammers will try to sign a replacement striker this month should Arnautovic leave, but if Hernandez departed as well they would be left with Andy Carroll and Lucas Perez as their only strikers.

Bournemouth’s £75m-rated Callum Wilson is a possible replacement if Arnautovic is sold.
