It seems the most challenging things for Sebastien Haller since moving to West Ham have been living out of cardboard boxes and looking after his heavily pregnant wife Priscilla.

That is because settling into the Premier League has so far proved no problem for the club-record £45million signing, who scored his first two goals for West Ham in Saturday’s 3-1 win at Watford and is already looking like money well spent.

“It is the best feeling ever to come into a new club and score goals like this,” said the 25-year-old French striker, who joined from Eintracht Frankfurt last month.

“Of course for a striker it is always nice to score goals especially when we get a win. It is not always easy to move to another country and I still have a lot of things to fix.

“It is not easy off the pitch. When you get an apartment you have to settle perfectly with all the boxes and also a pregnant woman, so it is not always easy.

"I need to get used to it with the new things. They are only small things but in the end they make a difference. The club has really helped me.

“On the pitch there is a lot of intensity in games. It is not the competition, it is about the players you have and you play against.

"Today was not easy because for most of the game I was alone against three of four players.”

Haller looks like he will be a real hit in the Premier League and the exciting thing for West Ham fans is he says they have only seen a glimpse of what he can do.

“It was a terrible game for me against Watford,” said Haller, despite his two goals and an impressive all-round display at Vicarage Road.

“It was not my best game but at the end I got two goals and that is the job of a striker.

“It is not easy to judge a player when he plays well but he does not score, but Saturday was the opposite. I am just happy because I helped the team to win.”

Haller’s switch to West Ham could eventually be worth £55m, but he insists he is embracing the pressure of his transfer fee.

He said: “In football there is always pressure. Sometimes because of the amount of transfer paid, sometimes about the contract you have and actually playing.

"It is a good pressure to have. They buy me for a high amount, so the pressure I have to show it, but once the club spend a lot of money on you, it shows faith in you.”
