Lys Mousset played the part of super sub as West Ham were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against Sheffield United at the London Stadium.

Robert Snodgrass slotted past Dean Henderson a minute before half time to give the Hammers the lead.

But Mousset struck his second goal inside a week - having scored the winner against Arsenal on Monday - just six minutes after coming off the bench to salvage a deserved point for the visitors.

The game was dubbed 'The Carlos Tevez Derby' after the feud between the clubs over the Argentinian's transfer as the two sides met for the first time since the Blades' relegation.

Sheffield United should have gone ahead before the half-hour mark when Jack O'Connell's knockdown found David McGoldrick and his close-range effort was saved well by goalkeeper Roberto.

With precious little between the two sides, the Blades missed another golden opportunity when Roberto came out to claim McGoldrick's cross, but it hit Callum Robinson and the Hammers scrambled it clear.

Snodgrass, who had been the best player on the pitch, was rewarded with a goal a minute before half time, slotting past Henderson after being put through by Andriy Yarmolenko.

The away side responded after the break and nearly levelled twice through George Baldock but the full-back was denied before missing the target on the second attempt. Down the other end, Henderson denied Felipe Anderson with a fine reaction save to keep them in the game.

Chris Wilder sent on Mousset for Oliver Norwood and within six minutes, the decision paid dividends soon after. The French striker volleyed home superbly into the corner from Enda Stevens' cushioned header to grab a deserved equaliser.

Snodgrass almost found a late winner when his effort came back off the post after getting on the end of Pablo Fornals' cross, but the hosts were left frustrated to make it four league games without a win.
