Arsene Wenger's team remain in a solid position but have title nerves started to get the better of Arsenal already?

Successive defeats to Everton and Manchester City have left the Gunners trailing leaders Chelsea by nine points going into the festive campaign, but do the Gunners have history on their side?

Standard Sport looked back through the archives to find out…

  • Arsenal have topped the Premier League table on Christmas Day twice (2002/03, 2007/08) but failed to go on and lift the trophy on both occasions.

  • Arsenal have been outside the top four on Christmas Day on seven occasions but the only time they failed to climb back into the top four was in the 1995/1996 campaign - before Wenger took charge.

  • On the three occasions Arsenal won the title they claimed an average of 51 points after Christmas Day.

  • Arsenal have secured more points after Christmas Day in every season bar three (1996/97, 2007/2008, 2015/2016).

Arsenal take on West Brom at the Emirates on Boxing Day, and you can follow the match live on Standard Sport. Click here to find out how.
