Will Chelsea finish above Manchester United? Standard Sport's Poll of the Day

Vaishali Bhardwaj28 February 2016

Oscar admitted on Saturday that Chelsea's comeback win over Southampton at St Mary's had left the reigning Premier League champions feeling "very confident now" following the club's worst start to a campaign since 1979.

And, when one looks at the statistics that accompanied the victory, it's easy to see why.

The win means Guus Hiddink's side have only lost one game since he took charge in December - a 2-1 defeat away to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League - while it lifted Chelsea into the top half of the table, albeit for a short while, for the first time this season.

Such was the importance of the three points that the Blues now find themselves just five points behind sixth-placed Manchester United, who at one time this term were challenging for the Premier League crown, but who now find themselves languishing outside the Champions League spots.

Louis van Gaal's side have endured an up-and-down campaign to date and they now take on league contenders Arsenal on Sunday afternoon, the result of which will either heap yet more pressure on the Dutchman or relieve it amid questions over his long-term future at the club.

Despite Chelsea's Thibaut Courtois ruling the Blues out of finishing in the top four this term, could the club still manage to have such a revival in form and results that they end the season above the Red Devils?
