Wojciech Szczesny believes Arsenal will benefit from reports that fail to acknowledge the league-leaders as genuine title contenders.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper was speaking to Arsenal.com in preparation for one of the toughest matches of the north Londoner’s campaign to date, at Manchester City this lunchtime.

Arsene Wenger’s team are five points clear at the top of the Premier League and a further point ahead of today's opponents, yet many pundits are still expressing doubts over the club's credentials.

Szczesny said: "If we can't be taken seriously just yet when we're five points on top of the league then it's good for us.

"We don't need people to take us seriously, the longer they don't take us seriously I think it's better for us - we'll take advantage of that.

"The fact that we're five points clear at the top of the table is a motivating factor, not the people who are not taking us seriously."
