Tottenham’s defensive approach was punished five minutes from time as Wolves earned a deserved point on Sunday.

Tanguy Ndombele opened the scoring after 57 seconds as Spurs looked to climb into third place, and were on top for the opening 20 minutes.

However, Ndombele’s goal would turn out to be a rare attack for the visitors at Molineux as they soon retreated as Wolves huffed and puffed for an equaliser.

Spurs dug in during the second half, not registering a shot on target after the 21st minute and seeking to demonstrate their new defensive steel under Jose Mourinho as they repelled marauding runs from Adama Traore and trickery by Fabio Silva in the penalty area.

But Wolves were rewarded for their relentless attacking when defender Romain Saiss met a corner ahead of Harry Kane and headed the ball in for 1-1.

Spurs, who topped the league earlier in December, have now taken just two points from their last four games and are fifth in the Premier League, six points behind leaders Liverpool.
