Tottenham Women head coach Robert Vilahamn says Manchester United “would be stupid not to fear” his side in next month’s FA Cup Final.

Spurs reached the Wembley showpiece for the first time in their history with a 2-1 win over Leicester after extra-time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium yesterday.

They will face United, who beat Chelsea 2-1 to end the Blues’ hopes of a treble and earn revenge for defeat in last year’s final.

“They would be stupid not to fear us, because we have beaten good teams, but on the other hand I don’t care [how they feel],” said the Swede (above), who has transformed Spurs this season.

“I know what we can do and we’ll go there, make sure we compete and go for it. It’s going to be a tough game, but we don’t care so much about the opponent. We want to win a title for this club, but we’re not going to be favourites.”

Spurs came back from a goal down, with Jess Naz equalising to force extra-time, before Martha Thomas headed home the winner with penalties looming.

Vilahamn’s side will be without on-loan star player Grace Clinton at Wembley, with the winger ineligible to play against her parent club.

Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Emma Hayes called for the introduction of VAR in the women’s game after her side’s defeat in Manchester, believing they should have been awarded two second-half penalties.

“I’ve said it thousands of times, we have to have technology in the game. We had VAR for the [League Cup] final, not here, and then it is in another final in the FA Cup,” said Hayes, who is still aiming to win the League and Champions League before stepping down to take over the USA Women’s team. “It has to be all in or all out.”
