England fans have shared their love for Gareth Southgate with his very own hashtag.

The Three Lions’ manager has already become a national hero after guiding the country to their first World Cup quarter final since 2006.

He was seen celebrating emotionally after England defeated Colombia on penalties on Tuesday, having missed a penalty himself in a shootout loss to Germany in Euro 96.

And fans let their love for the boss be known by tweeting #GarethSouthgateWould before contemplating selfless deeds the manager would carry out for others.

In a hilarious outpouring of love Paralympian Tanni Grey Thompson wrote on Twitter: “#GarethSouthgateWould come all the way to London to make sure there was a ramp to get me off the train when he was only popping to Boro to get some milk.”

Another person added: “#GarethSouthgateWould let Royal Mail leave every neighbour’s parcel at his place with no limits, then sit by the window with a cup of tea and pack of custard creams waiting for everyone to get back from work so he can personally drop it off.”

Paul Bailey wrote: “#GarethSouthgateWould ring his gran every sunday just to say hi and ask her what’s happening in the soaps.”

“#GarethSouthgateWould Pay an equal share of the restaurant bill, even though he didn't have a starter and only drank the tap water,” Richard Peach said.

The outpouring of support comes after fans penned a musical tribute to Southgate to the tune of Atomic Kitten’s Whole Again following England’s nail-biting qualifier for Saturday’s quarter finals.

The chant goes: “Looking back on when we first met, I cannot escape it, I cannot forget.

“Southgate you’re the one. You still turn me on. Football’s coming home again.”

The song first emerged as England raced to two wins in the World Cup group stages, but it was chanted en masse by fans leaving a Liam Gallagher concert in Finsbury Park over the weekend.

Southgate was promoted to England manager from the under 21s in 2016 after Sam Allardyce was sacked after just one game in charge.

England now have three days to prepare for a quarter final clash with Sweden on Saturday, while the nation gets swept up in World Cup fever.
