Georgios Samaras can't wait to take on Lionel Messi

We can do it: Georgios Samaras says Greece will be a match for Argentina

Greece striker Georgios Samaras is relishing the prospect of doing battle with Lionel Messi on Tuesday.

Samaras's side are looking to upset one of the tournament favourites in Argentina and progress from Group B.

Barcelona forward Messi has the highest profile in a star-studded team, who yesterday demolished South Korea 4-1.

Samaras said: "He is a top player. Next to him I am nothing. He is the best in the world."

However, the Celtic frontman believes Greece can take confidence from the 2-1 victory against Nigeria. He also dismissed suggestions that Argentina will field a weakened team.

"It does not matter who plays as they are all great players," he said. "But we will be positive.

"There have been lots of games where we have played attacking football and that will be our aim again.

"We have a chance of going through to the next round and we will fight for it. We are not an easy team to play against as Nigeria found out."

Despite Greece's win, the future of their coach Otto Rehhagel is unclear.

Samaras added: "If he would like to stay, I would be fine with that. We won the European Championship and he has brought us discipline."
