PSV Eindhoven winger Xavi Simons is on the verge of re-signing for Paris Saint-Germain.

Arsenal had been linked with the 20-year-old earlier this summer yet the player is set to return to the French champions after a reported £5.1million buy-back clause was activated.

Simons left PSG for the Netherlands a year ago and won the KNVB Cup while sharing the Eredivisie top-scorer crown in his single campaign at PSV.

On Sunday, the club confirmed the former Barcelona academy player had left their pre-season training camp to complete his move to PSG.

“Xavi Simons immediately leaves the training camp to complete the transfer with Paris Saint Germain,” a statement read.

“The twenty-year-old attacker came to PSV last year and became an important player in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s team.

“Xavi played a total of 49 times for PSV. He scored 19 times and provided nine assists. He also made his debut in the Dutch national team for PSV. Under the guidance of national coach Louis van Gaal, he entered the field for the Oranje in the game against the United States.”

Reports suggest PSG will seek to loan Simons out next season.
