Zidane rips his trousers to bear the brunt of the jokes on ‘best night’ as Real Madrid boss

Mishap: Zinedine Zidane tore his trousers during Real Madrid's Champions League clash with Wolfsburg

Zinedine Zidane may have enjoyed a memorable night as his Real Madrid side overcame a first-leg loss to beat Wolfsburg in their Champions League quarter-final clash in Spain, but it seems all the excitement and, indeed, pressure claimed a victim.

Zidane, who was appointed as Real manager in January, suffered a rather embarrassing moment during the game at the Santiago Bernabeu after his trousers split while he was ruing a missed chance.

After scoring twice in two first-half minutes, Cristiano Ronaldo completed a superb hat-trick 13 minutes from time to edge Real closer to the semi-finals of the Champions League following a shock first-leg loss in Germany.

But despite his side being on course to seal a memorable win, Zidane was clearly still feeling the pressure as the game approached its end which was exemplified by his passionate reaction to Real missing a chance to score in the 80th minute.

Unfortunately for the Frenchman, his outburst on the touchline resulted in him ripping his trousers - leaving a large chunk of his right leg exposed in the process.

With the moment being caught on camera, fans on Twitter couldn't help but comment on Zidane's trouser mishap although the Frenchman didn't seem to take much notice as he went on to describe the win as the "best" of his coaching career to date.

"We started the game, scored two goals in 15 minutes, not so easy," he said. "Then during the game, you must always have some difficulties, but what we had to do today was to show tremendous intensity, but also use our heads.

"My message, above all, was to have patience. We have done that over the 90 minutes, as to score three goals against this team is not easy. So it was my best night as a coach, so far."
