Journalists sent cache of messages purporting to be from Red Bull investigation during practice for Bahrain Grand Prix

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has labelled an alleged leak of evidence from the investigation into his conduct as “anonymous speculation”.

Ahead of this weekend’s Bahrain Grand Prix, the first of the 2024 Formula One season, Horner was questioned by his employers following a complaint of ‘inappropriate behaviour’ made against him by a female member of staff.

Horner has always vehemently denied the allegations and was cleared to continue in his role after the claim was dismissed earlier this week.

However, during second practice on Thursday, an anonymous gmail account sent what purported to be a series of messages between Horner and the complainant to nearly 200 people including journalists, team principals, senior F1 figures, Liberty Media and the FIA.

A statement on behalf of Horner was delivered to journalists at the circuit on Thursday evening in response to the alleged leak.

It read: “I won’t comment on anonymous speculation, but to reiterate, I have always denied the allegations.

“I respected the integrity of the independent investigation and fully cooperated with it every step of the way.

“It was a thorough and fair investigation conducted by an independent specialist barrister and it has concluded, dismissing the complaint made. I remain fully focused on the start of the season.”

It is not known at this stage if the messages are genuine, or if they formed part of the investigation into Horner. Red Bull and F1 are yet to comment.

Horner, 50, was on the pit wall for both practice sessions as he looked to put the matter behind him and focus on the new campaign.

Speaking on Sky Sports earlier on Thursday, he said: "I am pleased that the process is over, and I cannot comment about it.

"I am here to focus on the grand prix and the season ahead and trying to defend both of our titles."

Horner added: "I can't give you any further comment, but the process has been conducted and concluded.

"I am pleased to be here in Bahrain, and with the team, focused on the season ahead. Within the team [the unity] has never been stronger."
