From the Bridge to the Lane - is Jose now heading for Spurs?

Leaving for another part of London?: Jose Mourinho
13 April 2012

Tottenham have emerged as one of the favourites to become Jose Mourinho's next stop in his whirlwind managerial career.

The Special One parted company with Chelsea last night and bookmakers Coral predict White Hart Lane could be his next destination, along with Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid.

It's no secret that Tottenham manager Martin Jol is under intense pressure after saturday's 3-1 defeat at home to Arsenal.

And if his men were failed to convince against Cyprus underdogs Anorthosis Famagusta tonight or at Bolton on Sunday his position could become untenable.

The Spurs board have already been linked with Seville coach Juande Ramos and may view Mourinho as too good to pass over.

They had talks with the Portuguese manager before he left Porto for Chelsea and were believed to be close to snaring their target until Roman Abramovich stepped in with his fistful of roubles.

And Mourinho has lavished praise on Spurs in the past, knows there would be a sizeable transfer war chest at his disposal and would be able to retain his family roots in London - a city he has fallen in love with.

Barcelona is an unlikely destination as he burned his bridges at the Nou Camp during the infamous Champions League bust-up and Real madrid have only just appointed a new man at the Bernabeu helm.

Top clubs around Europe will today be considering a move for Mourinho but a switch from South London to the north of the capital isn't quite as fanciful as it first seems.
