Fulham star Davies has new hope in 'miracle'

David Smith13 April 2012

Simon Davies is convinced Fulham can pull off "a miracle" escape after they won away from home in the Premier League for the first time in 34 games.

The midfielder crossed for Brian McBride to give Fulham an early lead at Reading on Saturday and substitute Erik Nevland made it 2-0 in added time.

Now relegation, which had looked all but certain following a defeat at home to Sunderland, might yet be avoided, though Fulham are still four points adrift of safety.

"We don't want to get too carried away," said Davies. "But hopefully we can take a bit of momentum with us now.

"After the result against Sunderland, the manager [Roy Hodgson] told us we needed a miracle.

"Well, once we got that first goal against Reading you saw the confidence come back. Now we've given ourselves half a chance."
