Fulham's Pantsil happy to put Stoor in Fredrik's challenge

13 April 2012

New signing John Pantsil has welcomed the signature of Fredrik Stoor by the club despite the prospect of competing for a position with the Swedish international.

The 27-year-old Ghanaian joined the Cottagers from West Ham last month along with team-mate Bobby Zamora in a joint deal worth £6.3million, while Stoor was signed more recently as manager Roy Hodgson continues to build his squad ahead of the new Barclays Premier League season.

Stoor, who played all Sweden's matches at Euro 2008, replaced Pantsil at half-time in Fulham's 1-1 draw with Birmingham City over the weekend and the Black Stars right back admits he is ready to fight for his place.

'I play for the national team and he does but I'm not scared,' Pantsil told www.ghanasoccernet.com.

'I'm going to do what I can do best and at the end the coach will decide.

'I love the challenge and that will help me improve my game. We have only begun the season and so let's wait for the league to start.'
