Gallen can be top-flight midfielder

Ian Holloway believes Kevin Gallen's future could lie in midfield if Queens Park Rangers gain promotion to the Premiership.

The 29-year-old QPR skipper has played half of the season in central midfield but has scored three times in their last four games since reverting to his favourite position as striker. Holloway said: "I know he is a centre-forward but also he is a quality footballer. I have to get the team to play certain ways.

"Sometimes players are selfish but I'm trying to develop him [Gallen] as a captain and as a player.

"I believe that if I put him in the Premier League he will have to be a midfielder.

"I don't believe he would have the pace to beat centre-halves - but I would love him to prove me wrong."

Andrew Davies, who is beginning his second loan spell at the club, is likely to be return in central defence alongside Dan Shittu at Derby tonight.
