Gascoigne released from hospital after second sectioning in four months

Former England midfielder Paul Gascoigne was released from hospital on Monday after being sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

Gascoigne was sectioned on Sunday after approaching a member of the public in an agitated state in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.

The former Tottenham and Newcastle star spent two weeks in hospital in February with similar problems.

A Hertfordshire Police spokeswoman said: "The man is no longer sectioned. Police believe he is no longer in hospital care."

Police were called Sunday lunchtime to a location in Hertfordshire, north of London.

"(A man) approached a member of the public who was unknown to him, appearing unwell and in an agitated state in Hemel Hempstead," police said on Sunday.

"Officers arrived and accompanied the man to hospital so he could be checked over. He was sectioned under the Mental Health Act."
