Great Britain will field a football team in the London 2012 Olympics - no matter how complex the politics or stubborn the opposition of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.


Lord Moynihan, chairman of the British Olympic Association, gave that categoric pledge yesterday, along with his powerful endorsement of Games chief Lord Coe's proposal that Sir Alex Ferguson should manage the team.
