Giggs signs five-year United deal

13 April 2012

Winger Ryan Giggs has followed striker Andy Cole and defender Jaap Stam in agreeing a new contract with Manchester United.

Wales international Giggs, 27, has fixed terms on a five-year deal and will sign the contract in July.

The news is a timely boost for United who lost 1-0 at home to Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-final first leg last night.

Stam feels United can overturn the deficit in the second leg and said: "We've proved before that when we need to win, then sometimes it works for us."

Galatasaray came from 2-0 down at half-time to beat Real Madrid 3-2 in their quarter-final in Istanbul.
