Gillespie takes over in shake-up

Peter Gillespie, a leading national course designer, has been elected chairman of the British Show Jumping Association.

Gillespie's vice-chairman will be Liz Edgar, who won a class at Olympia last month on her mare Debutante.

But in a shake-up of the sport's hierarchy following Britain's poor performance at the Sydney Olympics, the new full-time role of senior Chef d'Equipe remains unfilled.

Michael Bullman, who keeps his position as chairman of International Affairs and is Britain's most experienced Chef d'Equipe, said he would apply for the post. He stays as acting team manager while details of the job and salary are finalised and the appointment is advertised.
