Glory nears for Midlanders

14 April 2012

Warwickshire were closing in on the Frizzell County Championship crown after dismissing dangerman Graeme Hick at Worcester today.

The 38-year-old former England batsman enjoyed a 157-run partnership with Kadeer Ali but the home side faltered in their bid to reach the follow on target of 311.

After looking comfortable on 195 for three, Ali was caught by Tony Frost off Dougie Brown for 66. Five runs later Hick went, clean bowled by Brown just seven runs short of his century.

If the visitors are to secure the Championship by the weekend, they need to win the match and pick up one more bonus point.

Meanwhile, Surrey struggled with the loss of four quick wickets against Lancashire at Old Trafford today.
