Gofer Adam Hadwin was tackled by security on the green at the Canadian Open on Sunday night.

The world no.75 was not recognised by a steward when celebrating Nick Taylor’s incredible play-off win over Tommy Fleetwood.

Home favourite Taylor sunk the longest and most important putt of his career to beat the Brit, sparking jubilant scenes from the crowd.

Compatriot Hadwin, who finished in 12th place, was tackled by a security guard after he sprayed Taylor and his caddie with champagne.

The guard did not appear to recognise the 35-year-old and immediately pushed him to the ground before others surrounded the pair on the turf.

Taylor’s caddie moved to help the floored Hadwin, who has taken the incident in good humour.

On Monday, the Canadian tweeted a photo of the tackle and captioned it: “Put it in the Louvre!”

When asked how it felt being tackled, Hadwin responded: “I think I’ll stick to golf!!”
