Record prize money is on offer this week as the world’s best battle it out at the 150th Open Championship.
It’s an even more special week than usual, with the landmark occasion taking place at St Andrews, the Home of Golf.
Defending champion Collin Morikawa took home £1.6million when he came out on top at Royal St George’s 12 months ago, but this year’s winner will earn plenty more than that.
The total prize fund has been increased by 22 per cent, up to just under £12million in total. Amateur golfers are not entitled to any prize money.

The 2022 Champion Golfer of the Year will received £2.1m for their efforts, just under a million more than the runner-up will take home.
Whoever finishes fifth at St Andrews will be in line for just under £482,000, double what the player in tenth will receive. The prize money continues to decrease down the field, with the player in 30th for example winning £77,000. Top 70 and ties make the cut at the Open, and whoever finishes last of those who make the weekend will still get £26,000.
Of those who do not make the cut, the top ten are in line for almost £9,000, the next 20 will take home just over £7,000 and everyone else will get nearly £6,000.
