Good news on Shaw injury

12 April 2012

England have been boosted by the news Simon Shaw is making a "remarkable" recovery from an ankle injury.

The Wasps lock's participation in the RBS 6 Nations was in major doubt after he sustained the injury in Saturday's Heineken Cup defeat by Munster.

But the club have now issued a medical update which read: "He is walking well without the assistance of crutches. The signs are very encouraging."

"He will continue intensive rehab with the club throughout this week," it added.

Shaw was carried from the field when he landed awkwardly while making a tackle at the lineout, although scans later revealed soft tissue damage, rather than a break.
